Friends while in high school,
Shannon and Gretchen have been business partners since 1996.
Shannon graduated from Lancaster High School in 1995 and continued his education attending Hocking College. Gretchen graduated from Lancaster High School in 1996 (attending her senior prom with - who else?) and then enrolled at Ohio University, Athens.
April 1, 1996. As college students, Shannon and Gretchen started their first company - Cut Right Lawn Services, Inc. By providing honest and high quality work, they quickly became a recognized and trusted lawn care and landscaping service throughout Lancaster and Fairfield County.
In 1997, Shannon graduated first in his class with a 4.0 GPA, earning an Associates's Degree in Broadcast Engineering and TV Production Technologies, and completed an internship with NBC Channel 4 in Columbus, Ohio. In 1998, Shannon received licensure by the State of Ohio Department of Agriculture for a Custom (Lawn Chemical) Applicator's License and has since maintained a perfect safety and compliance record. This licensing requires continual education and full recertification every three years.
Shannon and Gretchen were (what else ?) married. August 28, 1999.
Gretchen graduated from Ohio University, Athens in 2000 with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology.
Over the next few years, demand for their services grew. Shannon and Gretchen soon found themselves inundated with landscape job orders which were steadily becoming larger and more complex, requiring a wider variety of landscaping materials. They quickly found that it was difficult to get the superior quality landscape products they wanted for their customers, so they decided to use their landscaping experience to redirect their business to include a landscape supply company.
2007 - In the tough and shaky financial climate of recession, at a time when many small businesses were going under, Shannon and Gretchen started their second business venture, Wright Landscape Supply & Market Place, LLC.
They needed land, a water supply, an office, a garage, a storage building, commercial grade electrical connections, plumbing, heating, cooling, machinery, tools, greenhouses, inventory, office supplies, advertising, employees and, as you can imagine, a great deal more just to get started.
Interested in expanding their company services to provide their customers with masonry work such as patios and walkways, both Shannon and Gretchen broadened their skills by completing training with the National Concrete Masonry Association. In December 2008 they both earned the certification of Segmental Retaining Wall Installer.
In January of 2018 Shannon and Gretchen expanded their company and opened a second location in Chillicothe, Ohio at 5565 U.S. 23 South. Today, their Chillicothe location is growing rapidly and serving Ross county and southern Ohio.
2024 - Still going strong, by applying honest customer service and countless hours of hard work, Wright Landscape Supply & Market Place continues to provide custom landscape design and installation services and the sale of materials and supplies to landscape contractors and the general public throughout Ohio.
